On Wednesday, September 7th, 2022, Craig Nielsen from Canadian Blood Services came and spoke to Richmond Rotary. Donating blood is an important charitable contribution you can make. To ensure Canadian Blood Services can continue to meet the needs of patients in Canada, they need everyone who is healthy to book and keep their blood and plasma donation appointment for the weeks and months ahead. Craig also spoke about the Partners for Life program, a program for groups and organizations to join where you work as a team to meet to support Canadian Blood Services. Partners for Life set an annual donation pledge, raise awareness, and book group blood donations. Richmond Rotary has recently become a Partner for Life! Please see information below to learn about how to set up your account and start supporting Canadian Blood Services. Each individual joining the team will need to have an account created with Blood.ca (Also check for an email from Dean Hsieh to learn about how to set up your account donate money, donate blood, raise awareness, and set up group donation drives). A single blood donation can make a lifesaving difference to someone in need. Imagine the impact your organization can have when people work together as a team to support Canada’s Lifeline. Partners for Life member organizations are doing more than just committing to raising awareness and recruiting new donors. Their team’s efforts have a direct impact on patients in Canada and the families who love them. Here are four ways to get involved with Partners for Life: Raise awareness Inspire future donors by hosting a donor recruitment event or by sharing information about donating blood, stem cells, cord blood and/or organs and tissues. Share your story on your website, social media platforms or corporate newsletters. Organize a group blood donation Donate as a team at one of our donor centre or mobile donation event in your community. Host a blood donation event Engage your network in a meaningful, hands-on collaborative project to successfully fill all the appointment slots at your donation event. Personalize the donation experience by decorating the donor centre, enlist volunteer greeters and provide additional refreshments. Set an annual blood donation pledge We work with your organization to set an achievable and motivating goal of the number of donations your organizations wants to achieve in one year. We ask that your members sign up to have their donations counted towards your goal. We are able to provide you updates throughout the year and will work with you to achieve your goal/pledge. |
