Join us coming Wed June 4 at the Shiang Garden, we no longer meet at the River Rock Casino. Will confirm later whether this is going to be our permanent venue.

Topic: At the National Immunization Day at Togo, South Africa
Speaker: Mary Liang, she is the Past President of the Rotary Club of Vancouver, and in a previous life was a nurse before she
moved on to a management role in the Health Care System. She has always wanted to go to Africa and help,
and was able to realize this ambition last fall.
SOS Children's Village Run a Huge Success
Grey skies and rain did not dampen the spirit of over 400 participants in the 6th Annual SOS Children's Village Walk/Run.
The Rotary Club of Richmond and President Ken Dennis, along with many volunteers organized a fabulous outdoor party at the Plaza provided by Richmond Oval. Thanks are extended to Mayor Malcolm Brodie, MP Alice Wong and MLA Linda Reid who kicked things off with their respective greetings and welcome messages.
There were smiles and photo opportunities throughout the morning as the mascots from RCMP, Firefighters and Vancouver Aquarium mingled with the crowd. Sponsors and supporters lent added interest, offering coffee, food, children's face painting, games and activities.
Excellent entertainment was provided by Charlotte Diamond, a school band, choir and a fiddling group. There was "a little of everything for everybody" at the display booths by Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue, Sustainability TV, iTalkBB Media, a Classic Car, University Hill School, BC Kidney Foundation, Richmond Amateur Radio Club, Greater Vancouver Medical Assistance and Services Team Society, Vancouver Aquarium, 692 BCIT RCACS Air Cadets, BC Athletics, Ethical Bean and Save-On Foods. Of course the fire truck and a RCMP Command Vehicle are always popular attractions.
They are still tabulating the silent auction and some of the expenses, but it's estimated that the event raised between $27,000-28,000. (Record!). There was 401 registered participants (Record!). There was about 30% more booths involved (Record!)
To all the volunteers, performers, sponsors and participants, thanks for a great show.
