The Rotary Club of Richmond continued a long 35 year tradition of supporting the Richmond Christmas Fund, we presented a $2,550 cheque to speaker Ed Gavsie, President & CEO  of Richmond Cares Richmond Gives and his colleague Cheryl Becir.  Ed provided some context to the need for supporting The Christmas Fund each year.  It is difficult to think that Richmond has the highest ratio of families living under the poverty line of all communities in BC.  Yet, these are the findings of Statistics Canada.  He thanked us, indicating that the funds will be well received for grocery certificates and other gift certificates to assist the cause.

Besides Ed and Cheryl, other visitors, Rotarian Chuck Truscott (Creston), Lincoln Yeung (Chinatown), Suna Yee and Jade Luo helped us finish off 2017 with a flair. Along with our 6 guests, we achieved 54% attendance today with 13 Rotary members.  Substitute Sgt. at Arms, Antonio did well in collecting stories and Christmas greetings from everyone.  It was very nice to see some folks that we have not seen for awhile.

Note: No Meeting Dec 27!!! See you all at Jan 3rd Wed luncheon
