Feb 5th marks the Year of the Pig.  People born in the Year of the Pig, are said to be diligent, compassionate and generous.  2019 is going to be full of joy, a year of friendship and love for all the zodiac signs; an auspicious year because the Pig attracts success in all the spheres of life.  The Rotary Club of Richmond started celebrations early, on Feb 2nd, with their annual Lunar New Year Gala dinner and fundraiser.  Guests enjoyed the customary Lion dance, God of Wealth, Qipao fashion show, Tai Chi sword demonstration, the ever popular photo booth, Chinese calligraphy dating back over 3000 years, many fabulous items on silent auction and 6 great items for live auction.  We were honoured to have many dignitaries in attendance, to lend their support and provide their warm messages.  So, now begins the Year of the Earth Pig, and time for humankind to show their joy, friendship and love.

This event would not have been possible without the kind and generous support of the donors of the auction items, cash gifts, sponsors, entertainers, the many hours from dedicated committee members, and of course the diligence of the members who bought and sold tickets.  Without these wonderful people, the Rotary Club of Richmond would not be able to help The Richmond Hospital Foundation, Rotary Hospice House, Pathways Clubhouse, SOS Children's Village and Vocational Training in Hachinanco, Mexico.

Mark your calendars NOW for next year.  Our Lunar Year Gala will be on Saturday, Jan 18, 2020.  Don't book anything else because we need every Rotarian to come to the aid of their Club, their Colleagues and of course to the projects in the community which we undertake.
